It is a one-off $10,000 grant for eligible first home buyers who buy or build a brand-new home valued at $750,000 or less. Established homes do not qualify for the grant.
Can I get the grant for an established home?
No — the $10,000 First Home Owner Grant is only for new homes. However, the stamp duty first-home-buyer exemption or concession is separate and can apply to an established home up to $600,000 (no duty) or $750,000 (reduced duty).
Can I get the grant and the stamp duty concession?
Yes, if you buy an eligible new home you may receive both the $10,000 grant and a stamp duty concession. They are assessed separately by the State Revenue Office.
How do I claim the First Home Owner Grant?
Usually through your lender at settlement, or directly with the State Revenue Office. As part of your conveyancing, ORLA Settle helps make sure the grant is lodged correctly.
